SEO for home services

You are not selling a job. You are trying to become the company they call every year without thinking about it.

The maths is lifetime value, not job value

A one-off service call is worth a modest amount. That same household on a maintenance agreement, calling you for years and referring neighbours, is worth many multiples of it, and that difference is what should set your marketing budget.

It also changes what the site has to do. It is not enough to capture the emergency; the emergency is the introduction. The site should make the agreement obvious, make renewing frictionless, and make the case for why a plan is cheaper than the failure it prevents.

Two customers, two completely different searches

Home services businesses serve two people who behave nothing alike, and one page cannot serve both well.

The emergency customer has no heat, no water or no air conditioning right now. They are on a phone, they will not read, and they will call whoever looks open and close. Everything for them is about the call button, the hours and whether you look like you will actually answer.

The planned customer is choosing a company to maintain something for years. They will read, compare, check licences and want to understand the plan tiers. That person needs depth, and if you only build for the emergency, you win the cheap job and lose the valuable relationship.

Where the recurring revenue lives

These are the categories where a maintenance relationship is the normal shape of the business, and where the search work compounds because each new customer keeps paying.

  • HVAC service and maintenance plans
  • Plumbing service and drain maintenance
  • Pest control and termite protection
  • Pool cleaning and chemical service
  • Lawn, landscape and irrigation maintenance
  • Generator, water treatment and filtration service

Reviews are the whole competition here

When a homeowner searches for an emergency, they see three businesses on a map with star ratings. In most neighbourhoods those three are all close enough that proximity stops separating them, which leaves reviews doing almost all of the deciding.

The technicians are the review engine, not the marketing. A process the crew can run in thirty seconds at the end of a call beats any campaign, and recency matters more than owners expect: forty reviews from this year generally outperform two hundred from four years ago.

Questions

Home Services: common questions

How is this different from your contractor page?

That page is for bid-based project work: remodels, builds, installs. This one is for recurring service relationships and maintenance agreements. If you do both, we usually lead with whichever produces the more valuable customer for you.

Does seasonality break this?

It changes the timing, not the approach. The work should happen before the season, not during it. Building in the quiet months means you are ranking when demand arrives instead of starting from zero in the week everyone calls.

We have multiple locations. How does that work?

If they are genuinely separate, staffed locations, each gets its own page and its own Google profile. If it is one business covering a wide area, that is a service-area setup instead, and we will explain why the difference matters.

Can you integrate with our dispatch software?

Usually. Most field service platforms offer booking widgets or an API, and we would rather connect what your office already runs on than move you onto something new mid-season.

Scope

Industry search terms are contested nationally, not locally, so this is a twelve-month investment rather than a quick win. We are straightforward about that. If you are a Tampa Bay business, the city pages will produce enquiries a good deal sooner.
